Definition of Creative Writing
Definition of creative writing Creative writing is writing that uses language in creative and bold ways. It is considered to be any writing, fiction, poetry, or non-fiction that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, and technical forms of literature. Works which fall into this category include novels, epics, short stories, plays, memoirs, articles, journals and poems.
There are two main categories. Fiction Fiction is writing about imaginary characters or events. If these characters or events are similar to those in real life it is called realistic fiction. Fiction can be divided into the following types: - Short stories
- Novels
- Movie Scripts
- TV Scripts
- Plays
- Fantasy
Non-fiction Non-fiction is writing about real people and events. Some types of non-fiction: - Memoirs
- Essays
- Biographies
- Autobiographies
- Articles
